Foundation/Year 1 class is taught by Mrs Pitches and Mrs Child.
Our overall learning theme for the Summer term is 'Being Healthy'. We will be learning about different animals, their diets and how they grow. The reception children have a trip to the farm scheduled this term to compliment their learning and we will hopefully be investigating lots of animals in the school environment too with special guests planned and projects.
Reading: Daily reading at home is expected of at least 15 minutes. This may include reading key words or phonic activities. Home reading records must be completed and signed every night. We have introduced a reading activity journal for the year 1 pupils this term. Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday.
Phonics: In the Summer term the year 1 pupils will complete a phonics screening test. This website has some excellent resources and phonics practice activities to try at home.
Homework: Activities will be set every week for maths and literacy. A science task will be set once a half term.
Class Dojo is a way of keeping in touch with school and celebrating the pupil's achievements. If you need to set up the home Class Dojo account please ask a class teacher for assistance.
Reception parents can also keep updated with learning at school through Tapestry. Families can also add home achievements to share with school on Tapestry too!
PE is on a Thursday for Y1's (outdoor) and Friday (indoor). Reception will have a balance bike session on Friday afternoon this half term. Also the reception pupils take part in physical development activities through the continuous provision.
Currently the year 1's are able to take part in a 'Fundamental Movement' sports after school club on Tuesdays from 3.15 - 4.00pm.
