Today Year 5/6 took part in the Preston Railway Safety day at Preston Railway Station. They met PCSO Dax who talked them through the numerous ways to keep safe on or near a railway. He also helped the children to realize the consequences of what would happen if they decided not to be safe. This eventually ended with them all in the back of a police van! (Don't worry, I got them all off with a warning this time!)
They also entered a national competition to design the best rail safety poster for Virgin Rail, as well as getting hands on with the safety equipment used by those who work on the railway lines to keep themselves and the public safe.
They all had a lovely time and gained a lot from the experience. Thank you very much Year 5/6 for taking part with such enthusiasm! I hope your learned how to be safe on our railway network.
