The first half of the Summer Term, we focus on Geography and we are learning about The Rainforest. The children will explore the physical and human geography around the Amazon and how the rainforest is changing. We will investigate what is happening to cause these changes and their effect/impact on the rainforest.

We made rainforest animals from things from our environmental area.

We have begun making our dioramas of the rainforest!

The second half of the Spring Term, we focus on History and we are learning about The Great Plague. We will be looking at how the plague started and spread. We will look at how the people at the time tried to stop and sure the plague. We will tie it in with our literacy unit and write newspaper reports about The Great Plague.

The children are really excited about this topic and are keen to learn what life was like during this time.

The first half of the Spring Term, we focus on History and we are learning about The Stone Age through to The Iron Age. We will be looking at how early man lived and survived over 3 million years ago!! We will look what tools they made and why, what food they ate, what they used to and how they built their houses and look at  Skara Brae (a Stone Age settlement). Finally we will learn about Stone Henge and try and imagine how on earth early man managed to build it with no machines!

The children have already asked lots of questions and will be deepening their learning by researching and investigating to get a real understanding of what life was like in The Stone Age.

We created cave paintings using our hands!

After the Half Term break we will begin to explore and learn about life during The Great Plague.
