Scroll down to see what Year 6 have been exploring in Art/DT/Music this year so far!

First Half of the Autumn Term

Linking to our history topic of the Victorians, we have been reading about the artist LS Lowry and exploring how he created people to move. We then looked at perspective, vanishing points, shades and tone before moving onto trying to replicate figures in motion. We finally created perspective of buildings and a vanishing point before having a go at creating our own Lowry style painting.

Second Half of the Autumn Term

We spent the term exploring the works of Claude Monet. We looked at mixing and blending of colours and also the brush strokes that he used to create the effects on his paintings. We then created our own Monet style artwork.

We also listened to, appraised and composed music based around the theme of water. Here are some of our compositions.

First Half of the Spring Term

This half term we have used our History Topic of Ancient Greece as a focus to make our own Greek Flat breads. We researched, tasted, designed our own flat breads adding our preferred ingredients. We had lots of fun making and evaluating them too!

Second Half of the Spring Term

As an extra, we designed and made shadow puppets to go alongside with the performing of our own panchatantra stories.

Whilst the children have been home learning, they have been researching, designing and making Ancient Greek Pots. Here are a few examples....
