Wow! What a great Diwali day we had. Each class studied the story of Rama and Sita in more detail. Some classes made diwas, some made rangoli patterns, others explored the concept of light over darkness through words and art, some children wrote poetry and other classes performed extracts of the story using puppets they had made.
Some members of the Hindu community came to show us how to make traditional Rangoli patterns using rice and chalk powder. Other children took part in a dance workshop and learned some Gujerati words.
No Diwali day would be complete without trying on some traditional Indian clothes and wearing Mendhi patterns.
We really enjoyed the opportunity to dive deeper into this amazing story of hope by using skills from across the curriculum.
