Maths =

Friday's on white rose hub, are 'Challenge Friday's'. 

Summer Term Week 8 (w/c 15th June) - LESSON 5 'MATHS CHALLENGE'.

The most suitable questions for Year 4 are 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. But why don’t you work with your family on the rest of the problems. Do as many as you can! Help each other out.


Literacy =


Run Wild by Gill Lewis

Today, you are going to complete some writing in response to what you have read this week. I have added the PDF of Run Wild below if you need it.


You can choose what you write from the following options.

1 – What happens next? Carry on with the next part of the story Run Wild. What will the children do? Are they safe? What will the wolf do? How will they escape without the wolf noticing them, or does the wolf notice them?

2 – Write your own story based on Run Wild. Try to stick closely to the plot of Run Wild, just changing one thing. You could change the characters, the setting, or change the wolf to a different dangerous animal. Plan your story out briefly then write it.

3 – Write a diary entry as if you are one of the characters. Recount what has happened to you and include thoughts and emotions of the character too.


Whichever you choose, try to include some Year 4 sentence types/ grammar skills that you have covered, e.g. fronted adverbials for where or when, or complex sentences with adverb starters (Nervously peering from behind the bush, Izzy put her hand to her mouth in fear.) Read your work through and check for spelling and punctuation


Spelling =

Every Friday, on your 'to do' folder on Purple Mash, I have set a quiz of a random mixture of the Year 3/4 spelling words that you need to know.

1. Please complete the quiz.

2. Write down the correct spelling of any that you get incorrect and learn them using the methods that you can remember from the booklet that we do in school. eg. rainbow colours, pyramids, word search, write them in pictures, draw shapes around them ect.


Reading =

1. Please make sure you are reading at least 20 minutes daily - there are lots of free books to read online via EPIC (a free app) or the library service.

2. Complete an activity on read theory, classroom secrets or from your reading booklet.

Read the Picture News documents below. 

Think about a time when you were asked to represent somebody or something. If you haven’t represented anyone or anything before, think about what or who you would like to represent.

 What was it? • What did you have to do? • What did you wear? • How did it make you feel?

Write a paragraph to describe your experience of representing somebody or something.

 Remember to include interesting vocabulary and vary your sentence structure and punctuation. Don’t forget a picture or drawing!
