Friday 1st May

Friday 1st May

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all OK at home. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on. Even if it just to say hi!

**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all.  I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you get stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **

 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. Complete Day 15 spelling activity and a grammar on Purple Mash 2Do.
  2. Maths - On class web page, I have attached a PowerPoint and a worksheet based on measuring angles. (YOU DO NOT NEED A PROTRACTOR FOR THIS.).

Things to remember:

  • Acute angles – less than 90 degrees
  • Obtuse Angles – Between 90 and 180 degrees
  • Reflex Angles – Between 180  and 360 degrees
  • All the angles around a point add up to 360 degrees

You don’t have to print it off, just record your answers and working out in your green book or do them on the squared paper I gave you and stick them into you green book. The answers for yesterday’s work are there too (on the class story and on the web page) for you to self-mark and I will post up the answers for today’s work for you on Monday.

3. If you have an IDL log in...use it each day and complete the lessons.

Writing -

Today you are going to write your own opening chapter about a child’s first day at school, a child who is different in some way.

Watch these clips.

Tamara:

The Present

Choose one of the above as a character for your story. Think about what you have read/watched this week regarding Auggie. See the table below for a way to plan your story.

Generic plot extracted from Wonder

Your new plot using either Tamara or the boy from The Present.

How the main character is feeling before school, walking to his classroom, children’s initial responses to him.

1st lesson- 1st teacher- a negative experience

Lunchtime- one positive and one negative experience

How main character is feeling after his first day

After you have planned your story, write your first chapter.

Think about all the writing techniques that you have been taught in Year 6 and see how many you can use in your chapter.

Read back your chapter out loud and check back over your spelling and punctuation.

Computing – Spreadsheets

Go onto Purple Mash. On the 2do, there is Spreadsheet activity for you to do. The activity is based on common letters. There is the video to help guide you through it. Have a look around the software and familiarise yourself with how to use it.
