Monday 20th April

Good morning everyone!

Today's tasks.

1. English- The Lancashire Professional Development Service have produced some really good read and respond units for English that we have decided to use as home learning. They are great texts and we hope you enjoy them too:)

Today we are going to look at the brilliant 'Gruffalo'. You may have read it before but I love re-reading my favourites!   There is a link to listen to/watch the story below but I will also read it on class dojo! As you listen, collect words and phrases that are used to describe the Gruffalo and write these in your book. Are there any new words that you don't know the meaning of? Use word hippo like we do in class to find out what they mean. Now have a go at writing your own sentences about the Gruffalo. You can magpie some of the words and phrases you head in the story. Send me a picture of your writing if you would like to!

2. Maths- White Rose Hub is the scheme we use for teaching Maths. They have now produced a home learning package which has a video, written questions and answers for each day. The link is below. It is very similar to the way we teach at school so I think the children will enjoy the activities. Please let me know what you think.

3. Phonics/Spelling- This week we are learning words with 'tion'. There are activities for this on Phonic bug and thee is a powerpoint below. These are the words to practice this week. Write them out, check you know what they mean and have a go and putting them into a sentence verbally.

Station, fiction, motion, national, section, addition, subtraction, potion, option, introduction

4. Science- Can you remember the terms omnivore, herbivore and carnivore? If not there is a link below to remind you! Watch the video about seagulls and think about their habitat and diet. Why are seagulls suited to live by the sea? Draw and label a picture of a seagull and write 2 or 3 sentences about how they are suited to their habitat.

-tion words. Only do a few slides each day this week.
