Hi everyone! I hope that you are all safe and well and had a good weekend. I will try and vary the activities that I give you each day so that it doesn't become too repetitive. 


**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all. I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you become stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **


 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. A 10 minute buster from CGP Reading
  2. A 10 minute buster from CGP Grammar
  3. A 10 minute buster from CGP Maths
  4. One Page of the big CGP Maths book
  5. Complete Day 21 spelling activities on Purple Mash 2Do
  6. Complete an Arithmetic activity on Kids Classroom Secrets.


Writing – Theme: Robots

During the next 2 weeks, the focus texts each contain living characters made from metal or wood.  You will explore extracts from Tin by Pádraig Kenny, Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, considering themes such as loyalty, friendship and adventure.


Before reading today’s text, use a dictionary, thesaurus or https://www.wordhipp to define the words: animat, sentience, embarrassing, condolences and alleviate.


Read Chapter 1 of Tin by Pádraig Kenny (attached on the bottom of this page). Then collect words and phrases that describe Absalom e.g. spidery, predatory, sly, a rattle-snake.



Role on the Wall activity:

In your green book, draw a simple outline of a human figure to represent Mr. Absalom. Inside the figure, write words and phrases from the text that betray Mr Absalom’s true feelings and emotions, e.g. sly, a sour look, he could smell money about to change hands. Outside the figure, write words and phrases that describe the way Mr Absalom is acting/ may appear to others, e.g. smiling, gentle, sympathetic.

What impression of Mr Absalom does this chapter give? Write down your response.


Science LO: To describe the impact of diet and exercise on the human body.


Using the PowerPoint that I have put below, make notes in your green book using the following headings:

  • Healthy Diet
  • Impact of a healthy diet
  • Exercise
  • Impact of exercise

** Remember notes are single words or phrases and not full sentences. They can also be drawings and diagrams**

Using the notes that you have gathered (you can use other sources of information if you wish to), create your own way to present this information to me. You can present it in any of the following ways:

  • PowerPoint Presentation
  • Create a 2Quiz program on Purple Mash
  • Make a 3D model of the body and add labels
  • Film a short video of yourself (and other members of your household if you wish) explaining it – you might like to show different food and exercises in your video.
  • An information sheet (as we have done previously in class) over a double page spread in your green book.


RE – Look at the picture below:

Think back to when we learnt about the Story of the Good Samaritan in worship. You may also remember the work we did on using the music video “Hold on Tight” and the advert about the Chinese boy who stole the medicine where people received a good deed and then passed it on..... Many people could be described as living out the parable of the Good Samaritan in their daily lives right now.


Your Task is to create a poster that shows the ways in which the many different Key Workers are being 'Good Samaritans' or showing love today.


 At the end of the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells the man who asked the question to 'Go and do the same'. I wonder what he meant by that? The Jewish people did not like the Samaritans at all. Jesus was telling them they were wrong to behave in this way. Have a look at the picture post again. Do you think that Jesus would like this picture? Give some reasons why.
