School Closure/Self Isolation Work

*Please remember two things before you read this list:

Purple Mash

2do activities – I will try and keep up to date with marking these. The English and Maths games should be played daily. Please think carefully about any written work you complete on Purple Mash and ensure that it has all features of a year 1 or year 2 writer.

Year 1 writer – Capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in the correct places. Ascenders and descenders (please look at handwriting link). Use wow vocabulary, conjunctions such as and, but, or, when, if, that, because to join sentences.

Year 2 writer – Capital letters, question marks, finger spaces and full stops in the correct places. Ascenders and descenders (please look at handwriting link). Use wow vocabulary, conjunctions such as and, but, or, when, if, that, because to join sentences. More able children should use suffixes such as ment, ness, ful, ly and less.

Phonics

Log on to phonics bug daily and complete the tasks to earn coins and rewards!

Spelling

Practice the Y1 or Y2 spelling list – the link is below. I will also add weekly spelling and phonic patterns to this page.

Reading

READ! Fiction, non-fiction and poetry – write a book review, describe the characters and settings, write a new story inspired by your book, change the ending, create illustrations.

IDL

You can log in each day and complete the lessons.

RE

Learn about why Baptism is Special. Discuss what it means to 'belong'. Talk about what Baptism is and why some people are Baptised. Discuss promises and how/where they are kept. Discuss what makes you feel as if you are part of God's family and how people of faith welcome new babies.

History/Geography

Research the topic 'Holidays from the past and Seaside' by looking at the Seaside town of Southport. Create a leaflet, postcard, letter about the changes over time, similarities and differences between then and now and discuss the physical and man-made features of a seaside town.

Art

Draw/paint a picture, which is inspired, by the artists Andy Warhol and Bridget Riley. Learn about Pop Art, realism, optical, illusion and optical art. Research one of these artists and their work.

Science

We are learning abut animals including humans. Research the features of a bird, a human and a shellfish. Identify omnivores, herbivores and carnivores and understand what these words mean.  Compare weather in Spring/Summer. Go on a Summer walk. What are the signs of Summer?

DT

We are learning about healthy food. Design and make a healthy snack in a recycled package.

PSHE

Our unit is 'Living in the wider world - Caring for the environment'. Learn about the environment in which we spend time, (at home, school) both indoor and outdoor stating the things we like about it and ways in which we can help look after it. 

 

PE

Use BBC Super Movers (link below) and Go Noodle (link below) to stay active and mindful.

Computing

Our Purple Mash units are Unit 1.4 Lego builders and 1.9 Technology outside school.

PE

Joe Wicks is doing a LIVE PE lesson on YouTube every school day at 9am. If you miss the live one, don't worry you can still find it on his YouTube channel at any time of the day. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

 

Finally, I will leave by saying that these are unprecedented times. We need to look out for one another. If you need any help with anything – please contact myself so I can support where necessary.
