Summer Term Week 2 (w/c 27th April) - LESSON 4 ‘ORDERING MONEY'.
1. Watch again: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – Pets Scene: https://www.youtube.c om/watch?v=KwdSrNpz jiU
(Note: This film has a 12A certificate. However, the visual content of this clip just shows animals and is age appropriate. It does, however, contain a mild swear word, so if you choose, you may wish to watch without sound).
2. Take note of all the different creatures in the clip. Pause the clip on each beast, noting down their features, e.g. size, shape, colour, eyes, unusual features etc.
3. From what you have seen this week, create your own fantastic beast!
You could use some features from different fantastic beasts that you have explored this week.
Draw your beast carefully and label it. Use precise nouns and expanded noun phrases when you label your beast, e.g. It has a black and white curved horn with yellow spots protruding out of its head.
I look forward to seeing a picture of your beast on class dojo!
1. Please make sure you are reading at least 20 minutes daily - there are lots of free books to read online via EPIC (a free app) or the library service.
2. Listen to me reading chapter 25 of Varjak Paw here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC31DVk_bURfrZg3gipraSeA?view_as=subscriber
3. Complete an activity on read theory, classroom secrets or from your reading booklet.
After learning words that end with a suffix this week, I have set the same quiz based on these spelling words from Monday. Hopefully, now that you've learnt these words, your score will have improved since Monday. I've set the quiz as 'Thursday 21st May - Quiz' in your '2do' folder on Purple Mash
As our Muslim families prepare to celebrate Eid this week, I would like you to find our a little bit about their celebrations. Why do you think they celebrate the end of fasting?
Using the video clips below, learn about the celebration of Eid. You might also like to message a Muslim friend to ask them about Eid or if you are Muslim, you might like to message a friend in our class to tell them all about Eid.
When you have watched the video, use the link below to complete a quiz all about Eid.
Continuing our topic of 'sound', this week we are going to be looking at how 'sound proofing' works. Have you heard of a sound proof room? It is where you stop the sound from travelling outside the room/area so that others can't hear it!
Watch this video - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z29c87h
Using the PowerPoint below, learn more about how sound proofing works.
Activity = Your task is to find out what the best material is to sound proof a music studio so that the sound stays in the studio and others outside the studio, don't hear the music.
You will play some music (using a phone, ipad, laptop, radio ect) and place the music player in a cardboard box. The box is like the studio! Record how loud the sound is when the music is playing in the studio with no soundproofing. Then you need to try the different materials.
Choose a material that you have (a rug, blanket, newspaper/magazine ect) at home and wrap the box in a single layer of the material. Measure the volume of the music now. Continue testing all the materials and measuring or listening to how loud the sound is with each one.
Let me know which material was the best to sound proof your music studio!
