Tuesday 19th May

Tuesday 19th May

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all OK at home. I know that you will be being kind and helpful to you the people living in your household too….it’s a strange time for everyone.

**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all.  I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you get stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **

 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. Complete Day 32 spelling activities on Purple Mash 2Do
  2. Complete some of the Grammar activities on Kids Classroom Secrets or Purple Mash 2Do
  3. 30 mins Read Theory - remember you should be aiming to achieve 80% or above if you read the text and the questions carefully.
  4. Maths –I have put a worksheet based on multiplying fractions by a whole number at the bottom of the page. We have covered fractions in class so this will be a good reminder and revision exercise.

**REMEMBER THAT MRS COLLIER DOES NOT LIKE WHOLE NUMBERS! SO TURN THEM INTO A FRACTION FIRST Eg 3 becomes 3/1 or 15 is 15/1**

There are 2 useful videos as another reminder on: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbh6hbk

Just watch the video. You don’t need to read/access any of the others things on that page.

Please complete it if you can. You don’t have to print it off, just record your answers and working out in your green book or do it on the squared paper I gave you and stick them into you green book. I have posted the answers for last Friday’s work for you to self-mark and I will post the answers for today’s work tomorrow for you.

4. If you have an IDL log in...use it each day and complete the lessons.

Writing – Theme: Robots

Today you are going to write the opening to a story featuring your robot.

You will need to include a description of your robot using ideas you have gathered this week. Your story could be about your robot’s quest to satisfy their wish – whether it be for a heart, brains, new hands, or to become human.

To help you plan, consider:

Where is your story going to be set?

Will your robot have another character to help them along the way, just as Dorothy helped the Tin Man?

What obstacles might they meet along the way?

Remember to read through your writing to check it makes sense and to check for spelling and punctuation.

Geography World Continents and Oceans and European Countries

On Purple Mash, I have set you 3 activities to do to help you to learn/revise the names of the Continents and Oceans of the World and some Countries in Europe. They will also help you to learn where they are situated too. Please take your time and make notes on a bit of paper if you need to.

RE – Eid Enrichment – Activity carried on from yesterday...

In Y6, we are going to link our Eid activity to a theme based on the Angel Jibril (Gabriel). The holy Quran was revealed to the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the month of Ramadhan. Jibril a.s was the chosen angel to present the divine revelations to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  Angel Gabriel was also the light & spirit, who came to Jesus with the words of God.   The angels are always amidst us, they provide us with Allah’s protection and love.

So, I would like you to use this idea, to help to transfer some of your wishes onto the wings of angels. They could be your aspirations for the future, you hopes or your prayers, for a brighter future. Your messages could even be to one another or to any of the teachers in school.

‘Let your dreams be your wings’.

Picture 1

Using the pictures above as a guide and inspiration, on white paper, draw and cut our the different shapes to form a pair of wings. On the back of the biggest one, write your aspirations for the future, you hopes or your prayers, for a brighter future. You can then hang them in your house or pass them onto a friend or send them into school.

Any completed work can be emailed (jenny.collier@st-stephens.lancs.sch.uk) or dojo’ed to me.

And as always, any questions please just ask.
