Tuesday 30th June

Tuesday 30th   June

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all OK at home. I know that you will be being kind and helpful to your parents too….it’s a strange time for everyone.

**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all.  I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you get stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **

 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. Complete Day 55 spelling activities on Purple Mash 2Do
  2. Complete some of the Grammar activities on Kids Classroom Secrets or Purple Mash 2Do
  3. If you have an IDL log in...use it each day and complete the lessons.

Maths - Below, I have attached a worksheet based on Long Division. We have covered this in school so it will be a useful revision exercise for you.

There is a PowerPoint attached below with some examples on that may help remind you.

Please complete the worksheet if you can. You don’t have to print it off, just record your answers and working out in your green book or do them on the squared paper I gave you and stick them into you green book. The answers for yesterday’s work are below to for you to self-mark and I will post up the answers for today’s work for you tomorrow.

Writing – Theme: Explorers and Adventurers

Read and make notes on the jungle survival story of Juliane Koepcke, using the extract from Survivors by David Long (attached below). Note: Due to the sensitive nature of this story, it is advised that it is read and discussed with an adult.

Imagine you are a news reporter who has just heard the news that a young girl – Juliane Koepcke, has survived eleven days in the jungle.

Write an article, suitable for a children’s adventure magazine, online newspaper or website, about the amazing survival story of Juliane – make sure you include information from the story so that it is factually correct.

The opening paragraph to an article, written about Juliane, can be found here: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/apr/07/from-the-archive-1972-observer-the-girl-who-came-back-alive-from-amazon

(Note: this is a news page, so will contain links to current news articles).

Remember to keep proof-reading your work to check for spelling and punctuation.

Project – Fidget Spinner Enterprise Business

This week you will design and create your own fidget spinner brand/business.

Your first task is to research names and designs of fidget spinners that are already on the market and then create some new designs of your own.  There is a prompt sheet attached below to help but you can draw your designs into your green book or on the plain paper.  You then need to select and create a final design for your fidget spinner and write a paragraph to say why you have selected the colours/designs. You will then need to choose a name for your product too.

Any completed work can be emailed (jenny.collier@st-stephens.lancs.sch.uk) or dojo’ed to me.

And as always, any questions please just ask.
