Tuesday 5th May

Tuesday 5th May

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all OK at home. Please remember to be kind and helpful to your parents too (I know that you will be doing!)…it’s a strange time for everyone.

**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all.  I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you get stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **

 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. Complete Day 22 spelling activities on Purple Mash 2Do
  2. Complete some of the Grammar activities on Kids Classroom Secrets or Purple Mash 2Do
  3. Look at the mark schemes that I have posted below and self -mark your CGP books.
  4. Maths –I have put a worksheet based on angles in a triangle below. Please complete it if you can. You don’t have to print it off, just record your answers and working out in your green book or do it on the squared paper I gave you and stick them into you green book. I have posted the answers for last Friday’s work for you to self mark and I will post the answers  for today’s work tomorrow for you. Things to remember, the 3 angles in a triangle always add up to 180° and angles on a straight line also add up to 180°.
  5. If you have an IDL log in...use it each day and complete the lessons.

Writing – Theme: Robots

“He was secretly delighted at the possibility of being sold…”

Re-read the Tin extract from yesterday.

Collect phrases which suggest that Jack wants to be sold.

Think about and record in writing, responses to the following questions:

• In what ways does Jack try to secure his sale?

• Why do you think that Jack wanted to be sold?

“Christopher tried to dampen the hot, sickening anger he felt.”

• Why was Christopher so unhappy about the sale?

Use a dictionary, thesaurus or https://www.wordhippo.com/ to define the word ‘humanely’.

• Which character behaves the most humanely in this chapter? Why?

• Which character behaves in the least humane way in this chapter? Why?

Science – LO: To know how exercise effects the body.

First, read the document below and click on the video link about the pulse and exercise inside the document.

Pick an exercise that all the members of your household can do. In your green book, make a table and record the following:

Household member’s name

Age

Pulse rate before exercise

Pulse rate after exercise

What do you notice about your results? Record your findings below the table in your Green book

RE – Following on from the work you did yesterday…

At the end of the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells the man who asked the question to 'Go and do the same'.

I wonder what he meant by that? The Jewish people did not like the Samaritans at all. Jesus was telling them they were wrong to behave in this way.

Picture 1

Have a look at the picture post again. Do you think that Jesus would like this picture? Give some reasons why.

Making your response

By yourself, or with other members of your household, make a heart shape with your hands. Take a photo and send it to me on dojo or email with a message. Jesus states that love is the greatest. Do you agree or disagree?

Have a discussion with your adult and then finish one of these sentences.

I agree that love is the greatest because.........

I disagree, love is not the greatest, .......... is, because ........

Any completed work can be emailed (jenny.collier@st-stephens.lancs.sch.uk) or dojo’ed to me.

And as always, any questions please just ask.
