Tuesday 9th June

Tuesday 9th June

Hi everyone! I hope that you are all OK at home. I know that you will be being kind and helpful to your parents too….it’s a strange time for everyone.

**Please just do what work you can and please please don’t worry if you don’t do it all.  I’d rather give you lots to keep you busy than not enough. If you wish to do alternative activities, that is also absolutely fine. Just do what is right for your family situation. Also, if you get stuck or are unsure, please just ask me. **

 Today’s activities are as follows:

  1. Complete Day 40 spelling activities on Purple Mash 2Do
  2. Complete some of the Grammar activities on Kids Classroom Secrets or Purple Mash 2Do
  3. If you have an IDL log in...use it each day and complete the lessons.
  4. Maths –I have put a worksheet based on converting fractions into percentages. We have covered this in school so it will be a useful revision exercise for you.

There are 2 useful videos as another reminder on:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvcny9q

Just watch the video. You don’t need to read/access any of the others things on that page.

Please complete this if you can. You don’t have to print it off, just record your answers and working out in your green book or do them on the squared paper I gave you and stick them into you green book. The answers for yesterday’s work are below to for you to self-mark and I will post up the answers for today’s work for you tomorrow.

Writing – Theme: Climate Change

Watch Polar Bears 101 - National Geographic Wild, making notes about them as you watch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zRGzlWqce4

When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online

Now read about the polar bear in this Polar Bear Primary Resource – National Geographic Kids (attached below). Make notes as you read. Once you have watched the clip and read the information about polar bears, create a fact page based on what you have learnt.

Remember to proof-read your work to check it makes sense and for spelling and punctuation.

Science To know how and why water and nutrients travel around our body.

Following on from yesterday….

Watch the clips again:

When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online

Design a poster – Why Water is so important to the Human Body. You may wish to draw the outline of a human body and write around it the key points of what water does for the body.

RE – Christianity – Life as a journey

Following on from yesterday…..

People go on journeys for a wide variety of reasons e.g. someone climbing Everest, a refugee, a holiday maker, politician/president getting on an aeroplane, round the world boatman, Muslims ready to go on Hajj, a car on the motorway, a campaigner on a march or a Hindu funeral.

Write the title ‘Life is a journey?’ in your green book. Underneath, write down whether you  agree or disagree? Why?

Then think about and write down your thoughts to the following two questions:

  • In what ways can life be compared to a journey?
  • What are the similarities and differences between life and a journey?

Any completed work can be emailed (jenny.collier@st-stephens.lancs.sch.uk) or dojo’ed to me.

And as always, any questions please just ask.
