Hello and welcome to Year 4!
Year 4 is taught by Miss Crosby.
Miss Hesmondhalgh is the class Teaching Assistant.
In Year 4, we always work hard and try our best in everything we do. We love discovering new facts and things within all of our lessons whilst most importantly - having fun!
Our History topic this half term is 'The Great Plague' and our Science topic is 'Plants'. Please keep checking the Topic and Science sub-sections for updates and pictures of what we have been doing.
English and Maths homework is sent home every Thursday and should be completed and returned to school by Tuesday.
One piece of science homework will be set for each topic.
Spellings will also be sent home some weeks for the children to practice throughout the week The children will write these words into their homework diary. I have uploaded a copy of the Year 3/4 high frequency words below.
If you have any questions about the homework, please do not hesitate to message on class dojo or speak to me at the end of the day.
Practicing numeracy skills in an informal ad friendly way like in the car, at tea time and in the shops can also support and help the children with their learning. Examples of areas to practice include:
Mental Arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Telling the Time
Retelling their class novel
Daily reading, of at least 15 minutes per day, is expected of all pupils.
All pupils must have their reading records signed so that I am aware how often each child is reading. For every night they read, they will receive a dojo! I will be checking reading journals every Friday so please make sure they have been signed at least once that week.
Reading is an essential part of learning and it is fantastic when we can support the children both at school and home.
A reminder of essential PE kit
The following PE kit is expected for all pupils:
Indoor- Plain white round neck t-shirt, plain black shorts, black PE pumps.
Outdoor – Same as above plus a sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms (for colder weather). Old trainers are recommended for outdoor PE.
