Diwali Enrichment

We have had a wonderful time in school celebrating Diwali, the festival of light.  Our children used their speaking and listening skills to act out parts of the story or to “hot seat” the characters or to debate on the values demonstrated by Sita in the story. Juniors have also researched the lives of inspirational Indian women who have made a difference to the world – thanks to the material provided by Aruna Patel.

We are very grateful to Aruna Patel and Kailash Parekh who came to speak to our pupils and presented values within their faith.  Kailash will also guide KS1 children around the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (oppposite County Hall) as part of their learning in R.E.  EYFS pupils visited the GHS temple on Monday and were guided by Mrs Patel.

We would also like to thank Mrs Limbachia and Mrs Ankitaben Patel who joined in the staff team and helped with Mehndi yesterday. We hope the children enjoyed receiving Mehndi, which decorates the hand for a few days.

Our own Miss Patel and Mrs Patel also deserve special thanks for helping to organise the activities, displays and to make the Mehndi possible. They will also help with the display of work which will be created in school next week. Families are welcome to visit school to look at the display.
