Curriculum

English

Our theme for Autumn 1 is stories with familiar settings and we will be reading the book 'Goat and Donkey in the Great Outdoors'.

We then wrote non-chronological reports about the season Autumn to link with Science.

In Autumn 2 we wrote a senses poem on Bonfire Night.

We are now learning about traditional tales and reading Little Red Riding Hood. We are going to write our own innovated stories of the traditional tale.

Maths

In Maths, we are learning addition and subtraction to 10 and 2D and 3D shapes.

Science

In Autumn 1, our science topic is all about materials. We will be learning about everyday materials and their properties. We will also be learning about the weather change from Summer to Autumn.

We tested different metals to see if all metal objects are magnetic.

In Autumn 2, our topic is Amazing Me where we have been learning about the changes from baby to child, our senses and parts of the body.

RE

Our class charity is Lancashire Wildlife Trust and we will be doing some exciting fundraising for this charity very soon.

In RE we will be learning about Harvest and how Harvest is celebrated in other countries. We will also look at the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

We will be learning about Jesus’ world and compare it to our world completing different activities and tasks to note how Jesus’ world is different to ours.

In Autumn 2, our topic is the Journey to Bethlehem to link with the build up to Christmas.
We acted out the Christmas story with costumes!

Diwali day! Mrs Knowles and Miss Crowe gave us a mendhi each and we made salt dough candle holders.

History

In Autumn, we will be learning about The Great Fire of London.

Geography

In Autumn, we will be investigating our local area. We will be learning about local statues, buildings and developing our general geographical knowledge. Below are some games you may find fun to improve your general knowledge.  

Art

In Art this term, we are going to be learning about how to draw a self-portrait. We will be using different media and materials to create self-portraits.

Music

This term, we will be listening to music to depict the Fire of London. This links to our History subject.

PE

Our PE unit in Autumn 1 is Lost and Found. We will be looking at practising our fundamental skills and developing ways of moving and travelling.

Our PE unit in Autumn 2 will be the Great Fire of London dance and we will also be learning more fundamental skills.
PNE came into school to teach us some fundamental skills.

Computing

In computing this term, we are going to be looking at online safety and why it is important to stay safe when using technology.  

In Computing in Autumn 2, we will be learning about technology around us and beyond.

PSHE

In Autumn 1 in PSHE we will be learning and discussing the following: 

 · the need for rules

· right and wrong

· begin to understand the difference between right and wrong

· begin to understand the need for rules in their classroom and why rules help

· contributing to the class

· our class council

· speaking and listening about things that are important to use

· debating opinions

· understand that they belong to various groups and can identify them

· our class and school

· how to make a positive contribution to improving our class and our school

In Autumn 2, we will be looking at the following themes:
It’s good to be different - Similarities and differences, unkind, tease or bully, saying thank you, fair or not?

Friendship week. As we can't hug each other at the moment we made 'bear hug' cards for a friend and wrote why they are a good friend.

The Letter of ASPIRE we are looking at this half term is I for Include. The Christian Values we will be focusing on are Forgiveness and Justice.
