Ms Wright's Last Day in School - Special Message from Ms Wright

"After 7 years and 2 terms, I am taking early retirement so that I can work part time as a Diocesan adviser, amongst one or two other things. Early retirement also allows me to spend more time with parents and wider family after 34 years working as a teacher and headteacher.

I would like to thank the children and families for their tremendous love and support during my time here.  Broadgate is a wonderful place of diversity and also unity.  We all share in the values of care for one another and it is a very happy place.  I will miss saying good morning to families each day and feel privileged to have been the headteacher here.

In assembly today I gave a gift to the values leaders for each class. This was a small lighthouse which can be displayed on the reflection tables as a reminder that we should look to the light and allow ourselves to be lights to others.  I also bought a book for the school called, “the little book of joy”.  This was written by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama.  Both men were life-long friends, even though from different faith traditions.  You and your child can read the story  here  and I hope it brings you joy.

I am delighted to hand over the school to Mr Coxhead who is really looking forward to working here as the new headteacher and I know you will make him as welcome here as I have been.

Thank you and goodbye everyone!"

Bishop Jill came to visit school today and she celebrated Easter with us. The values leaders did a great job of leading the assembly.  We all watched a special video in which each class told a section of the story of Easter through artefacts made in class. You can watch the video here  and we hope you enjoy it!

During Bishop Jill's visit to school for our Easter assembly, the wonderful mosaic produced by Mrs Garstang (and assisted by pupils) was revealed. The mosaic will be installed in the Environmental area. It looks amazing. Well done!

Bishop Jill also presented a special award called the “Courageous Advocacy Award”.  This will be given to a Year 6 child each year to congratulate them for making the world a better place.  The award is given in memory of Ms Wright who has her last day in school today and this will be presented each year at the leavers’ award ceremony.
