Bolton Museum - Ancient Egyptians
Date: 24th Nov 2022 @ 1:14pm
In Year 4 this term we have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians. On Tuesday, we went to Bolton Museum to learn even more and Millie at the museum was very impressed with our knowledge. We explored around the Egyptian gallery and took part in a workshop. During the workshop, we learnt the link between Bolton and Egypt, we created a human timeline, we learnt about mummification and even saw some real mummies! We also pretended one of the children were a mummy and we had to sort the organs into the correct canopic jar.
Whist we were there, we were lucky enough to have a look around the art gallery, an aquarium and we learnt about the history of Bolton. We had a fantastic day!!

She taught us how the food we eat travels through our body, is used for energy and then how we poop out the waste! It was pretty gross but great fun!

We have had great fun learning all about Diwali. We made Diva lamps, created rangoli patterns using rotation and made lots of delicious food. This was then collected from all around school to create a display like they do at the temple. In our RE lessons we are considering the question "Is there one journey or many?" where we are learning about the Hindu beliefs around reincarnation, the cycle of life and the Samskaras.

Prince Edward Earl of Wessex and Sophie Countess of Wessex
Date: 5th Oct 2022 @ 8:02pm
Our pupils in KS1 were invited to receive the Count and Countess of Wessex, Edward and Sophie. It was delightful to welcome them to Preston Market and to Miller Park. The Royal couple were very generous with their time and they were attentive in talking to the children. We were very grateful for the opportunity to be present at the celebration of the 20th year of the 2002 Jubilee at which Preston was named as a city. Children were given flags and goody bags containing a drink and a snack. They were very welcoming of our special visitors and the sun shone for us on the day.
