Year 3/4 2020 - 21
Welcome to Year 3/4!!
Hello everyone - Welcome to Year 3/4. Our teacher is Mrs Robinson and our teaching assistant is Mrs Buxton.
Please note that due to our staggered start time, our class are starting school at 8:50am and finishing at 3:10. Children need to enter and leave from the link corridor on the junior yard.
In Year 3/4, we are very excited about our topics this year, stand by to learn about the Great Plague, the Rainforest, plants, volcanoes and earthquakes. We are looking forward to reading some fabulous picture books and mesmerising novels. Keep checking back on this page for more exciting updates. As we complete work, photographs and information will be added to our subpages below.
Each day, children will need to bring a water bottle to school, along with their reading book and diary. These should come to school in a book bag. Large rucksacks are not suitable. Packed lunches should be bought to school in a named washable container.
Children are expected to read each night and have their diary signed. Adults at home should discuss the reading with their child and discuss plot, characters and settings. Children can also access 'read theory' at home. Their log on is glued in their reading records.
Each week children will be set a piece of English and a piece of Maths homework. By the end of year 3, children are expected to know their 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables. By the end of year 4, children are expected to know all of their times tables. TT rockstars is available for all children to learn their times tables. Their log on is glued in their reading records.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Fridays. Children need to have an indoor and outdoor PE kit, consisting of white t shirt, black shorts or leggings, and trainers/pumps. On a Friday morning, we will be going into the Environmental area. Children will need to have a suitable change of footwear for this (and possibly a change of clothing in more unsettled weather). All of these should be labelled with your child's name and in a drawstring bag which can be hung in the cloakroom.
Our behaviour management system is based on class dojo. Children earn dojo points for a variety of positive behaviours. A point will be removed as a sanction for unacceptable behaviour in line with our behaviour management policy. Parents will be contacted via the message facility regarding any school matters and I would recommend having notifications turned on for this.
We are a cashless school. All money for school lunches, trips and equipment should be paid via the parent pay website. If you do not have a log in for this, please speak to the school office.
